A free 2-hour masterclass for yoga teachers & healthcare professionals
Wednesday 9th September 2026, 14:00-16:00 UTC, Live on Zoom & Recorded
Includes replay access for 3 days
Breast cancer is something many yoga teachers will encounter in their teaching journey — whether or not they specifically intend to work with people affected by cancer.
Around 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime, and women make up the majority of yoga students. At some point, you are likely to welcome a student into your class who is recovering after surgery, undergoing treatment, or living with the ongoing effects of cancer.
As yoga teachers, we want to support our students — but we also have a responsibility to understand their needs and teach safely.
This free masterclass will give you an introduction to the key considerations when supporting students after breast cancer, including common treatments, side effects and practical adaptations you can bring into your teaching.
In this masterclass, you will learn:
The physical and emotional impact of breast cancer treatments and recovery
The key questions to ask before supporting a student affected by cancer
Important precautions and adaptations after breast surgery and treatment
How to create a safer, more supportive environment for students
Examples of appropriate yoga practices to support recovery
How to adapt your teaching to meet the individual needs of the person in front of you
Because the goal is not to make someone fit the yoga practice - The practice should adapt to support the person.
